Event Planning & Promotion
Project Overview
Painted Penguin is a local painting store that provides a quicker, more affordable painting experience than other painting stores. You can even take home the painted piece within thirty minutes.
As store manager, I oversaw the planning and promotion of Storytime Hours, painting classes, and Sip and Paint events. Storytime Hour is a program for young children that consists of reading a story, painting a related piece, and completing an activity packet. Sip and Paint is a 21+ event where painters can bring their own alcohol and follow an instructor to paint a specific design.

Project Scope
As the store manager of the Painted Penguin, I took on the role of event planning for the store. I planned a variety of events, including Sip and Paints, Storytime Hours, and different promotions to get customers in the store.

I planned events for the store while also overseeing the hiring/firing of employees, scheduling, and inventory management.

The events and promotions drove traffic to the store and increased sales and awareness. There were many repeat customers directly from these events.

I promoted each event and sale on Facebook, Instagram, and in-store using graphics made with Canva.
Planning Process
I started by creating an outline of what I wanted to do for each event and gauged customer interest in-store.

Then, I worked with the store owner to create monthly event schedules and in-store promotions. I created this schedule with worker availability in mind.

For the Storytime Hour events, I used Canva to design activity packets for the children to do while their paintings dried. These packets related to the theme of the event and included coloring, a word search, and other games.

I created and painted both designs for The Sip and Paint. The event also included detailed instructions on how to paint each piece in case the customers wanted to work ahead of the instructor. I was the instructor for this event.

Promotion Process
I used Canva to create social graphics and printed marketing materials. The printed marketing materials were put on tables, and flyers were also handed out in-store.
Meta Business Suite was used to schedule posts on Instagram and Facebook based on recommended timing. I also created Facebook event pages that could be shared and notified customers of upcoming events and in-store promotions.

There was also a monthly display I put out that detailed all the events and promotions for the month set out in front of the store. All graphics for this were designed using Canva.
Results
The Sip and Paint event was the first of its kind and was completely sold out. It was attended by 30 people, which generated a lot of awareness and revenue for the store.
The Storytime Hour had a consistent turnout and is now requested by local PTAs as a private event for their student groups. This repeated event has also generated revenue for the store.

The variety of in-store promotions, such as Date Night Deals, also got customers in-store and increased overall store revenue.
